This is a review for the formal baby dress for the sophisticated baby, style BK114. The style number for this dress is the similar to the baby dress with flowers of fun. Just by looking, you can see that the silhouettes and included accessories are the same. The only differences are in the embroidery details as well as the colors available. This sophisticated dress style is available in plum, blue, and green. Like the baby dress with flowers of fun, the style is made exclusively for babies and runs in sizes small through extra large. This entire formal baby dress is made out of the most luxurious taffeta fabric which gives off a subtle sheen. Starting with the top, the bodice was designed with a flattering scoop neckline and dainty little cap sleeves. This bodice has been left plain and undecorated which in my opinion, exhibits the beautiful nature of the taffeta fabric. There is an invisible zipper enclosure in the back. The gathered waist band is also undecorated, but it is still accented with the detachable flower pin. This detachable flower pin has a pearl center, tiny radiating pearl details and three different styles of flowing ribbons. The waist band converts into a waist sash which can be tied into a fancy bow at the center back. The skirt of this dress is where the sophistication can be found. The natural tea length skirt is made of two layers of taffeta and is supported by crinoline. The top layer of taffeta features a scalloped edge which allows the second layer of taffeta to peek through. On both the front and the back, the top layer of taffeta is heavily decorated with the most intricate and exquisite embroidery found on NancyAugust.com. Gold and metallic gold embroidery outlines fancy flowers, feathers, leaves, vines, loops, and other artistic lines on this skirt. The multicolored embroidery is accented with sequins all around! Reminiscent of representations of peacock feathers in vintage art, the floral and feather embroidery of the skirt looks like something from the Art Nouveau styles of Paris, France, Bohemian art plates, or even traditional paintings from India! The artistry of the embroidery and sequins on this sophisticated skirt are breathtakingly beautiful and a far cry from the typical rosebud detail seen on many other baby dresses. To finish the outfit, there is a matching headband, accented with a bow and detachable flower pin, as well as a pair of matching taffeta bloomers. My issue is that this dress is unfortunately only available in three colors at the moment. This is a unique and elegant dress style that I would love to own in multiple colors! If lighter colors were available, this baby dress would be absolutely perfect for a romantic garden wedding. However, the deep and rich colors available do make this dress a worthy purchase for a lavish indoor wedding or any other special event held during the fall or winter months.
